- Sophomore Slump: The Reavers is undeniably an effort to recapture the same madcap brilliance of Fraser's earlier novel The Pyrates. While The Reavers is by no means bad and it features a lot of direct links to The Pyrates that make it practically a prequel, it simply doesn't reach the same heights of hilarity as the previous book.
