- Adaptation Displacement: There are a large amount of people who wouldn't have known this even existed if not for Robotech.
- Designated Villain: This may have been the entire point of the series as the humans on Earth—at least in well-developed urban areas—lived in relative peace despite being invaded by Inbits along with leaving the colonies on Mars and other planets alone even if they have a tendency to commit Disproportionate Retribution any opposition towards them. This act as a Foreshadowing to their revelation as aliens with a lost homeworld and a moral lesson on the need of communications between two groups to prevent needless violence over an issue.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Mospeada is actually relatively obscure in its native Japan, and only achieved popularity in America due to its inclusion in Robotech.
- Ho Yay: like Lancer from Anime/Robotech, Yellow Belmont received such speculation due to being Wholesome Crossdresser and feminine personality.
- Just Here for Godzilla: That bangin' theme tune is more memorable than the show itself.
- Narm: The killer's titular nickname from 21st Episode, "Rainy Boy", came off as weird and hilarious despite his dreaded nature and his suffering from being made into a Cyborg by the Inbits.
- Refrain from Assuming: The title of the opening theme is not "Lonely Soldier Boy." It's "Ushinawareta Densetsu (Yume) Motomete" (Searching for the Vanished Legend (Dream)). However, a cover of that song by Malaysian band Hujan is called "Lonely Soldier Boy".
