• Alternate Character Interpretation:
  • Tewi: backstabbing for fun and profit or the true protector of the realm?
  • Yorihime: Self-centred girl who was always a latent psycho or woobie who broke under pressure?
  • Yuyuko: Power-hungry necromancer who wanted to erase problems by erasing free will or genuine well-intentioned extremist for the smallfolk?
  • Nue: self-concious about her bad leadership skills, or wanting to get rid of the hot potato?
  • Meiling: Jerkass or just doing her job?
• Anti-Climax Boss: Eiki. She is the leader of the Sanzus, yet she's unceremoniously offed by a thrown spear. Also, Selenion, a huge frickin' dragon that dies being one-shotted by Iku's thunder-sword.
  • The zombies became uncontrolled when Yuyuko dies, and it's set up that the realm will suffer a true Zombie Apocalypse, but then they're swiftly dealt by the Waterlands and Vale forces, with their special weapons.
• Badass Decay: Lady Yukari is initially a huge threat, however her presiding generals in Mount Tengu get eaten by Aya and Hatate right under her nose, and she dies by her magic having a critical failure due to being seen.
• Canon Defilement: The author is aware that some changes don't reflect their original canon characters, like Alice being a psychopath and Meiling a jerkass. Whether this is a good thing, it's up to the reader to judge.
• Crazy Is Cool: Lady Murasa, who launches anchors by trebuchets.
• Creator's Pet: Sakuya and Iku, though it doesn't make them less badass.
• Creepy Awesome: Yamame, being capable of controlling spiders and having a crazy demeanor.
• Evil Is Cool: Mokou has an all-black, all evil outfit and Yorihime has A FREAKING DRAGON!
• Fan Nickname: Futo gained the nickname "Fugetsu", after she was captured and tortured by Gengetsu.
• Jerkass Woobie: Futo, arrogant and not so smart, but you WILL feel sorry for her, after Gengetsu gets her hands on her.
• Magnificent Bastard: As usual, we have Yukari, Tewi, Sakuya, Medicine.
• Paranoia Fuel: Tewi's rabbits are everywhere!
  • Yakumo House's motto is "We are everwhere", in reference to their reputed capacity of making their armies appear from nowhere.
• Stoic Woobie: Komachi.
• Too Cool to Live: Komachi, due to being a good knight and ruler.
• The Woobie: Given the nature of the work, there are many characters that you will end up pitying, like Ichirin (she was basically the sacrifice that started the war), Iwasaka (having a crazy psychopath sister who he still tries hard to prove himself to), Komachi, (she had the opportunity to be a good ruler), Jaime (lost his girlfriend and was raped by Gengetsu).
