  • Game-Breaker:
    • In general: The pet system. Common item shops become obsolete when your pet can give you lots of healing items for free and even grant Status Buff during battles.
    • Moonlight Witch: Around level 26, Jurio will learn his second Limit Break, "Brave Rush", a very powerful attack that has a very wide range of effect and will win most battles as soon as its used.
    • A Tear of Vermillion: Anti-Magic, a black spell that makes an ally immune to all forms of magic (healing, offensive and status-inflicting spells). Healing spells are easily replaceable with items, and most bosses focus on magic attacks anyway, so its possible to make the entire team near-invincible by casting it on everyone. Plus, two members of the final party can use it.
    • Song of the Ocean:
      • In this game, Finishing Moves are triggered by selecting a character with a full meter and pressing the "circle button" when a turn (any turn) arrives. Unleashing it during enemy turns will not only greatly damaging them, but also cancel their action.
      • The Noise Bell accessory cause monsters to run away from you, regardless of your level. Since approaching them from behind grants you a Pre-emptive strike, you can get an Extra Turn for every non-boss battle.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Amongst the PSP remakes, A Tear of Vermillion is a big improvement over The Moonlight Witchnote , itself a fun, but short, easy and underwhelming game. Vermillion features a longer and more serious plot, better developed characters and a more balanced battle system. It also has treasure chests in dungeon, something rare in its predecessor.
  • That One Level: The last dungeon of Moonlight Witch is probably the worst designed level in the entire series. The level is an extremely long underground maze full of monsters where one can easily get lost and spend hours running in circles.
  • Underused Game Mechanic:
    • Profecy of the Moonligh Witch has an event where Jurio and Chris have to investigate a robbery that happened inside a ship by talking to every suspect, and then answering a series of questions to figure out the culprit's true identity. While a nice feature, it's only used once in the game and never seen again until The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.
    • In Song of the Ocean, you can use the Old Save Bonus to unlock every playable character from the previous two games and replay some battles from said games. Sadly, every character joins at level 1, un-equiped, and you cannot use them outside the Tuning Fork area.
