• Genius Bonus: The three major arcs of the story draw inspiration from Japanese literature and folklore:
  • The final chapters of Subaru's arc draws parallels to The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, namely when Hina is Put on a Bus while Subaru longs to see her again for the remainder of the series. Hina's family name (Kaguya) further supports the allusion.
  • Cosmo's arc is based on the story of Tanabata, a tale of star-crossed lovers due to circumstances can only rarely meet. Cosmo's name is even a nod to the astral nature of the story
  • Ginga's arc appears to be based on Night on the Galactic Railroad, with Nao's twitter handle sharing the same name as Campanella and Ginga's stream name directly being one of the words of the story's title.
