YMMV / GMod Tower

Go To

  • Awesome Music: So much of it taken from other games for the gamemodes, fancy Scrapyard from TimeSplitters 2 in Virus? How about some Super Mario Bros. OC Remixes when playing Source Karts? Or maybe some Take on Me whenever you collect the invincible orb in PVP Battle? Shard gives some nice Mirror's Edge action music in an environment inspired by it, and that's before you pick up the messenger bag and Still Alive starts to play.
  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome: Subverted for map voting when you join a gamemode, any map that has been played twice in a row will be made unavailable to selection for a bit, encouraging a wider variety. Though still expect people to choose Hospital in Virus due to the ability to camp in the lobby.
    • Shotguns in PVP Battle, especially the SPAS-12 due to it's tighter choke. Expect to see "X blew Y in half." and "X pumped Y full of lead" in the kill feed a lot.
  • Demonic Spider: Mutants in Zombie Massacre who inflict a One-Hit Kill on you if you get too close, the fact they tend to blend in with the more common zombies makes them even more problematic.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: The "Sunshine Day!~" whenever you achieve a reward, especially if said reward is difficult, throws in a trophy or unique item alongside the usual 500 GMC.
    • The same sound returns in Tower Unite everytime you earn a achievement.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Early on during Lobby 2's release, a user claimed to discover a secret area hidden behind the theater. Upon accessing the directory, they were transported to Lobby 1, after the bombs fell. It's now a scorched, dilapidated building, shrouded in darkness. As the person explores the ruined apartment wing, they climb up to the second floor of one of the rooms, where a red light emanates from the closet. When they enter, they find a shadow casted by what appears to be Mr. Sunabouzu hanging himself! Since this secret couldn't be accessed by other players, it was eventually confirmed to be the prelude for an Alternate Reality Game that dealt with what got left behind after Lobby 1 was destroyed by the bombs during its final moments.
  • Tear Jerker: "End Credits" is probably enough to get anyone who's played Tower for a long time on the verge of tears.
  • That One Level: Memories in Ball Race, there's a reason it gives you three tries instead of the usual two.
