YMMV / Fuan no Tane

• Heartwarming Moments: Surprisingly enough.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The stalker ghost/entity in the "Scene" anthology, with his shades, curled lips and protruding teeth, bears more than a passing resemblance to PC Principal.
• Narm: Some of the Nightmare Faces end up looking just plain goofy rather than scary.
  • An out-of-place sign in a dead-end alleyway reading "French Language". 'Scary' is not a word that comes to mind.
    • Even the man who finds it is confused. "What? What about the French language?"
  • Many of the stories involve events that are strange or eerie, but nothing harmful happens (on-panel) as a result.
  • The "hug me" deformed baby thing is difficult to take seriously since it's about only a foot tall, and tries to reassure the nurses it won't bite them despite that its head is about 90% teeth.
  • "Traffic Safety" is pretty funny if you have a dark sense of humor.
• Nightmare Fuel: Yes, all the way
• Paranoia Fuel: One story is nothing more than pointing out that a sign stating "Watch out" really means "Watch Out for Something", but what that something is is never explained.
  • Not to mention most of the stories involve something watching or following people.
• Tear Jerker: One series of chapters in Fuan no Tane Plus involves a girl stalked by a guy with weird eyes that nobody else can see and whose life is being invaded by the weird screeching sound he makes. Her best friend gives her a charm to ward off evil spirits, which seems to work for a bit. Unfortunately, that just pisses whatever the stalking entity is off. The protagonist hears that her friend is ill, and the last she and the reader see of the friend, she's hiding out in her house and one of her eyes has changed to resemble the strange man's. The story ends with the protagonist demanding that the spirit (or whatever it is) just attack her and leave her friend alone. It obliges to the first part, at least. And the worst part is the whole horror started when they accidentally bumped into the guy, making him drop his sunglasses. That's it.
