YMMV / Frozen Ever After

Go To

  • Accidental Nightmare Fuel: While not intentional, the result of what happens when Epcot's screen faces stop working can be absolutely horrifying, as their normal faces become replaced with a featureless black void.
  • Broken Base: Disney Theme Parks fans are divided on whether or not this ride or the ride it replaced at Epcot, Maelstrom, is the superior attraction. Upon the ride's announcement, some were angry that it was replacing Maelstrom and felt that the attraction didn't belong in Norway, or even in World Showcase, while others were happy, either not caring about Maelstrom being closed or being glum about it but still looking forward to the attraction, and believing that its being located in the Norway pavilion wouldn't be a problem. Then once the attraction finally opened, some (even if they initially hated the idea) loved it, whereas others considered it a Replacement Scrappy for Maelstrom and mocked the attraction's Excuse Plot. It doesn't help that many of the people who hated the ride from its announcement don't think very highly of Frozen and its status as a Cash-Cow Franchise anyhow.
  • Improved Second Attempt: The ride at Hong Kong Disneyland includes Audio-Animatronics with molded faces instead of projections, and is located in a Frozen-themed area rather than a park known mainly for edutainment. Tokyo would bypass the Excuse Plot entirely in favor of retelling the film's events with detailed animatronics and special effects.
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley: Epcot's animatronics of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff are this to some, as they have traditional animatronic bodies, but have glowing screen-based faces, giving them a very off-putting and creepy vibe. Especially when they malfunction, in which they become straight up terrifying.
