  • Anvilicious: The commentary on American politics in the Enclave arc is many things. Subtle is not one of them. Also, torture should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
  • Arc Fatigue: A common complaint about the Enclave arc is that it just lasts too long, and some have started to complain that the story itself is just going on for too long. Even the author has said that he feels burned out after writing for nearly four years.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: A causal conversation between Marcus and Charon in chapter 77 comes off a lot like a Fallout 3 vs. Fallout New Vegas conversation.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Not long after meeting Sam, Roger and Norman are asked if they are in a relationship, which both of them react badly to, causing Sam to wonder if the two of them are homophobic. This is an example for three reasons. The first being Nora never seeing the proposed relationship as homosexual to begin with, the second being the two end up forming a relationship anyway," and Sheryl being a part of that relationship makes it VERY clear that Nora isn't homophobic.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Volker Hoffman utterly swept the character poll the author put up.
  • Funny Moments: This. it isn't part of the main story but man is it funny! [Caution: Link contains mid-story spoilers]
  • Love to Hate: Many readers have commented on how they love Dr. Goeth.
  • The Scrappy: General Hill has only been around for a few chapters and already more than a few readers are talking about how much they hate her. Considering her character this may be intentional.
  • The Woobie:
    • Volker. The Trauma Conga Line under his character entry has around half a dozen different bullet points, he suffers from PTSD, he has more than a little bit of self loathing, and he's stuck in an unfamiliar world. Oh, and his eye got clawed out.
    • Jessica Cain. Experimented on and tortured until she became an Empty Shell in order to survive, turned into a Super-Soldier by the Enclave, only came out of her shell when one of her sisters was killed, and was forced to kill the other one in self defense. And while Goeth and Crawford might have been killed and punished for the hands they had in her suffering, Woods is a Karma Houdini despite how she allowed Goeth to perform his experiments. Jessica was so infuriated by this that she left the planet with Cerberus.
    • Sheryl already was a borderline example, having dealt with Fantastic Racism in her past as well as losing her arm on Tuchanka, but chapter 103 pushes her deep into Woobie territory. Having your loved ones threatened and nearly being the victim of rape would do this to anyone.
