• Crazy Is Cool: Wax. He is actually one of the good guys, but his methods are highly unorthodox, mainly forcing his partner to carry around a ming vase with 5kg of seized cocaine while casually shooting his way through the Parisian underworld to dismantle a terrorist cell.
• Director Displacement: Luc Besson came up with the story but didn't direct or write the screenplay.
• Magnificent Bastard: Charlie Wax is a boisterous but highly effective CIA assassin who has been tasked to destroy a jihadist cell in Paris with his tag-along partner Reese. Wax smuggles his favorite gun through French customs and immediately carves a bloody path through the French underworld, willing to use wildly illegal means to achieve his goals while deliberately messing with his partner by forcing him to carry around and snort cocaine and keeping him in the dark about their ultimate mission. Wax later executes a female terrorist in cold blood and with Reese's help ultimately secures American interests abroad.
• Memetic Mutation: The dinner scene when Wax shoots the woman in the head (after figuring out that she's a terrorist).
• One-Scene Wonder: The unnamed agent that drives Charlie to intercept the bomb car is one hell of a driver.
