YMMV / Frog Fractions

  • Awesome Art: A lot of the background art looks pretty good for a flash game.
  • Awesome Music: The entire OST but in particular Get Your Ass to Mars.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The game is basically built on them. However even amongst the many featured in this game the history of boxing narration stands out.
  • Contested Sequel: Frog Fractions 2 was destined to be this. Due to the fact that the main kick of the first game was how surprising it could be, a follow up that fans knew was supposed to be weird just wouldn't be able to capture the same feel of discovery as the first one. As a result the reception to the game is actually pretty divided. There are some who think that the game is better due to the minigames lasting a lot longer and feeling more well designed, while others think it's inferior to the original for lacking the same sense of discovery and for feeling more like a collection of random minigames tied together by TXT World rather than a worthy continuation. Others consider both of them to be equally good for what they were.
  • Even Better Sequel: While the second game fell into Contested Sequel territory, the ARG that was supposed to lead to its discovery has been much more well received. It's been praised for its sense of scope and for being one of the most creative ARGs out there. Notably due to having more room to work with, it captured the sense of discovery that was present in the first game better than either of the games, while telling a pretty intricate story full of interesting characters. Its also pretty fun to read about for those who didn't get to experience it.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Sir Clarence Gastropod. Only appeared in the fake credits but is quite popular with the fans.
  • Epileptic Trees: Which game is Frog Fractions 2? It could literally be anything from Shower With Your Dad Simulator to Sonic Dreams Collection, fans have been guessing all sorts of recent games. Some say the quest to find the game is Frog Fractions 2. With the release of Glittermitten Grove, one might say that these have all been Jossed. But that's ridiculous. Glittermitten Grove and TXT World are Frog Fractions 3.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Hop's Iconic Cap being the followup to Frog Fractions isn't all that surprising: as a Stealth Sequel discovered in an unexpected place completely unnanounced, it's as much a Frog Fractions 2 to the story as the ARG and Glittermitten Grove were thematically.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The bug porn gag in the first game’s credits are hilariously reminiscent of the infamous scene in Shimoneta where the main characters show a class of high schoolers a “porno” consisting of footage of two flies mating while sexy music and dialogue plays.
  • Memetic Mutation: Unsurprisingly, it's common for particularly strange or non-sequitur games to be theorized to be Frog Fractions 2. Giant Bomb went so far as to have a "Most likely to be Frog Fractions 2" award in the GOTY awards.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: The end credits music, "Eyes Open", is suspiciously similar to "Wake Up" by Rage Against the Machine.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: A vocal minority here and not a really big deal but a lot of fans wished Lieutenant Hop returned in the second game.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Starts out as a parody edutainment game, then starts talking about bug porn and swearing.
