YMMV / Friendship Prevails

Go To

  • Broken Base: Manny Collars being turned into a rapist. Some fans don't mind, they see this as a fantasy where a rapist gets his comeuppance, and the story is executed well. However, some fans think this case of Adaptational Villainy goes way too far, as making someone a rapist for demonization comes to them as too cheap, plus Manny doesn't give such vibes in the source material unlike other supposedly sympathetic Mykan characters.
  • Fashion-Victim Villain: Strings's attire is nothing short of ridiculous, with the narration describing it as "a harlequin costume designed from sea-slugs". He's also this In-Universe; the moment Shining Armor sees it, he bursts out laughing.
Shining Armor: "You look [like] you came to the costume ball dressed as a foreskin inflammation!"
  • Moment of Awesome: Rarity, and later Applejack, calling out Talon Ted for everything he did in Pride and Punishment. Even better by the fact that the author changed next to nothing from his original self and the rant still worked.
  • My Real Daddy: Miser might be different from his Friendship Is Failure self, but his new portrayal is considered far more interesting and thus this is regarded as his fanon self by many readers.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The villains of the story, while not very strong or smart, are ruthless, which means they can still be scary.
    • Miser nearly buys a country so it can stay plunged in misery. Also, the country is in a very nasty condition, with pirates and wars happening all the time, which is why Miser had any chance to succeed.
    • Manny Collars attempting rape for next to no reason. It is written with enough detail to succeed at being scary. Also, he is actually a serial rapist and he has enough connections because his father is a judge, meaning it was possible for him to get away with his crimes.
