YMMV / Fourth Light Series

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • It was said in The Fourth Light that Hunter sided against Emperor Belos because he learned what his true intentions for him were. This becomes a lot more grim following the airing of "Hollow Mind" which reveals Hunter's true origins.
    • In the Love Duel Series, Odalia says she may hate Luz but she'll tolerate her for Amity's sake. "Clouds on the Horizon" taints the sentiment when Odalia decides to turn Luz in to the Emperor's Coven and find Amity a new girlfriend that fits her standards, which plays into Amity disowning her.
    • Anne's sleep problems and having a breakdown over Marcy's fate ends up being foreshadowing to Marcy's Journal: A Guide to Amphibia, which reveals that she did come close to having one because of what happened.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The Fourth Light has a few moments that ended up being used or cut from the Amphibia finale, "The Hardest Thing":
    • Marcy states the Core is a god created from its eight original minds in the story, and it refers to itself as such in the episode.
    • After gaining control of their Calamity powers, Sasha's heron swords and Marcy's crossbow become embedded with the gems' energy. This Concept Art by Joe Sparrow shows this was an idea left on the cutting room floor when designing both girls' Calamity base forms.
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • Amity manages to last long enough against 5 abomatons in her duel against Odalia for Luz to jump in and back her up. Then Hunter (in an illusionary disguise) steps in and takes down all 5 of them allowing the girls to finish off Odalia.
    • Alador managing to create a drill that absorbs leftover magic from the pseudo blood to create a small dimensional hole between the human and demon realms so Luz can use her phone to contact her mother.
    • Luz, Marcy and Sasha defeating all of their inner demons to use the powers they've been given. Luz especially deserves props: she basically kicked the piece of the Titan merged with her soul to the curb with its own magic so she could take it for herself.
  • Tearjerker:
    • Throughout Season 3A of Amphibia, Anne never showed any emotion regarding Sasha and Marcy during her time on Earth. Here because Marcy's her girlfriend, she feels more guilty from being unable to save her from being stabbed by King Andrias and it affects her to the point of having a breakdown.
    • The fact that Marcy's parents didn't accept her coming out and grounded her after she took it back explains why she was so eager to go to Amphibia with Anne and Sasha using the Calamity Box but it gets worse in The Fourth Light, when it's revealed that her parents moved without her. Anne, in a fit of rage, taps into her powers when she learns this and questions how they could just leave their daughter behind.
    • How did Luz defeat Emperor Belos? Technically she didn't: Belos was too powerful and in a last-ditch effort to stop him, she drank pseudo blood which gave her magic but caused her to be possessed by the Titan who disintegrated Belos to ashes. Luz may have saved both Earth and the Boiling Isles, but it left her terrified of what she'd done to do it.
    • Andrias' death. He fully regrets what he did and his body disintegrates as he accepts Marcy as a surrogate daughter. Everyone can only watch as Anne comforts Marcy for losing the closest person she had to a real father.
