• Crosses the Line Twice: "What is a Pet?" contains a vivid description and slightly-less-vivid visual depiction of what it's like to be a tiny toy going through the entire digestive system of a cat, ending with a P.O.V. shot from the inside of a cat's anus. Naturally, many fans were bewildered that Pixar went there.
• Heartwarming Moments: In "What is Time?", Rex becomes depressed thinking about the extinction of the dinosaurs in the past, and bemoans that time may just be a way to be forgotten. Forky says that he thinks he prefers "the now" because he gets to hang out with friends like Rex. This immediately cheers Rex up, who realizes that although the real dinosaurs are gone (except for the millions of birds which inhabit the planet), there are plenty of toy dinosaurs in Bonnie's room to interact with. He and Forky then proceed to bond over play-hunting them together.
