YMMV / Flex Seal

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: "Flex Paste penetrates deep."
  • Crazy Is Cool: Phil Swift's insane methods of testing Flex Seal. The most famous is probably sawing a boat in half and repairing it with only Flex Tape, but he's also turned a pick-up truck into a submarine with Flex Seal Colors, put together a 4x4 with Flex Glue, and covered a giant hole in another boat with Flex Tape Clear before riding it into shark-infested waters. And they all work.
  • Funny Moments: The outtake reel contains several of these, but one moment in particular is the moment where he laughs suddenly.
    • The ads in general are a good source of laughs, due to Phil Swift's over the top acting, his Memetic Badass status, and the absurd lengths he goes to just to show what Flex Tape can do.
  • Memetic Badass: Flex Tape. It can fix anything, no matter how large or ruined. Cut the world in half, and you could just tape it back together.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Several people began making memes and edits of the commercials after JonTron reviewed the commercials and the products in his web series.
    • In particular, people enjoy jokingly portraying Phil Swift as a psychopath who saws completely inappropriate things in half in order to demonstrate the power of his products.
    • "That's a lot of damage!", followed up by; "NOW THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE!"
    • "I sawed this boat in half!"
      • "I cut a giant hole in another boat!"
    • Phil Swift slapping on Flex Seal Explanation
  • Memetic Psychopath: Some parodies will turn Phil into a deranged and violent maniac who causes mass destruction and carnage just to demonstrate how well his products work.
  • Signature Scene:
    • The most well-known scene from the commercials is probably the scene where he saws a boat in half, puts it back together with Flex Tape, and then rides it out on the water.
    • Arguably, the scene where he destroys the bucket in the Extreme Bucket Demo is also this, as it has yielded the most popular quotes, and is referenced as often as the above scene.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: This entire commercial, wherein a giant Phil Swift demonstrates the power of his products on a far larger scale. Just shows what can be done with a simple greenscreen.
