  • Broken Base: The comic has a number of fans who find it a well-written portrayal of Gray-and-Grey Morality that does a lot to flesh out the villains, while others feel it's a poor attempt at whitewashing the villains and their crimes in canon, while portraying the heroes as wrong for punishing them. It also doesn't help that one of the comic's collaborators is fairly infamous online for giving Draco in Leather Pants treatment to child villains, including Cozy Glow in particular.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Twilight and Pinkie see Chrysalis's past when she was not hole-ridden like her present self and is a lot nicer and motherly as well. Twilight's response is a Flat "What".
    • When Twilight gains her flowing mane and tail, Chrysalis mockingly calls her "Twilight Sparkles". Twilight counters "Glitter Wings" has no right to talk. Chrysalis looks back and indeed sees her wings with glitter in them. Chrysalis starts to hyperventilate making Twilight freak out.
    • Twilight's face when she sees Chrysalis and Luna get along.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Tirek fist-bumping with Applejack and Rainbow Dash
    • Cozy accepting Rarity's and Fluttershy's help
    • Twilight's motivation at the beginning for at least attempting to redeem the three she failed with in order to make things right. "Princess of Friendship" isn't just a fancy title.
    • Although she seems very reluctant, Chrysalis decides to accept Twilight's help.
    • All three villains talk about how they sort of bonded in Frenemies.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The deteriorated state of petrified members of the Legion of Doom in Twilight's nightmare.
    • Page Ten of Chapter 3, combined with Tearjerker.
  • Tearjerker:
    • In different ways, Tirek's and Cozy Glow's neglect can hit close to home. DeusExEquus even intentionally left most of Cozy's backstory implied due to how sensitive the subject matter is.
      • When leaving for the School of Friendship, Cozy is about to say who she'll miss back at home, only for her to stop, wait a while to think, then just fly away without another word.
    • Chrysalis' reaction when being told not all of her changelings managed to escape the burning hive at the end of her memory.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Cozy Glow's mother may have been somewhat neglectful of her daughter, but from what little is seen of her, she did seem to love her daughter in her own way, and was not abusive in any way like her husband was. Because of this, Cozy indicating that she won't miss her mother while running away seems needlessly cold.
  • The Woobie: This webcomic managed to do this to Tirek, Cozy Glow, and even Chrysalis by giving them tragic backstories that explain (though even the Mane Six admit doesn't excuse) their actions. Try watching the events of the show's finale again treating them as Generic Doomsday Villains after reading this work.
