YMMV / Fighting Layer

• Ensemble Dark Horse: In similar vein to Skullomania, Fighting Layer has one character that stands above the rest: Janis Luciani. To this day, she is the most requested character for Fighting EX Layer.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Tetsuo Kato's fighting style and overall character concept as a Badass Normal karateka is extremely similar to Makoto from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, which came out only a year after Fighting Layer, while Sessyu is basically Q as a ninja concept-wise, given that they are both highly enigmatic and mysterious characters with questionable humanity.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Allen and Blair being in Fighting Layer is pretty much the only reason western gamers know about this game's existence. They have since returned in Fighting EX Layer alongside the majority of the Street Fighter EX cast (after mysteriously vanishing from that series after its first installment), though the mild Colbert Bump this game received in the wake of its Spiritual Successor's announcement and release has yet to translate to any of the Fighting Layer originals being given a new lease on life.
