- Cliché Storm: A common criticism that many will make about Fight Fever is that it is a highly derivative amalgamation of other fighting games of the era, particularly Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, World Heroes, and especially (and unsurprisingly) Street Fighter. The hosts of the YouTube channel TheFightersDen during a play through of the game in particular argue that Fighter's History and Breakers were better lower budget alternatives to Street Fighter and some of SNK's franchises of the time. Granted, some may argue that this South Korean game should be given a little slack when considering that when it was made South Korea had a ban on Japanese videogames and other entertainment (e.g., movies, television shows, etc.) in effect. Also, Viccom was created as a work around the ban in order for SNK to get the Neo Geo and some of its games distributed in South Korea. Considering Viccom's collaboration with SNK in the years prior to Fight Fever being produced, it would be a bit unsurprising that the developers would take quite a few notes from SNK's output of the time. note Regardless, the criticisms of Fight Fever lacking anything new to stand out certainly remain valid.
