• Surprisingly Similar Characters:The nameless protagonist has a lot in common with NiGHTS. They're both former objects of fear that reside in mental landscapes, as NiGHTS is a rebellious nightmaren that instead becomes a force for good and the protagonist is the Anthropomorphic Personification of coulrophobia in Max’s mind at least until Max starts associating clowns with the kind clown woman he met, causing her to turn into Dopamine, as Max associates clowns with good things now. They both serve(d) as Dragons for the Big Bads of their game, and they both turn against them and fight them as the Final Boss of their games. The protagonist is a clown, while NiGHTS is a jester, two very closely related careers associated with merriment and entertainment. They also have relationships with their Big Bads that could be interpreted as parent-and-child-like. In Journey Of Dreams, when Wizeman takes NiGHTS away it sounds eerily like a Father arguing with his child while at one point in this game Lady Depression refers to the protagonist as “my child” and seems to be molding her to be the top phobia in Max’s mind.
