  • Accidental Aesop: Don't drink and chaperone at the prom.
  • Award Snub: Mila Kunis was nominated for a 2007 Annie Award for her performance as Meg in this episode, but lost to Eartha Kitt for The Emperor's New School. Kirker Butler was also nominated for writing the episode, he lost to Ian Maxtone-Graham for The Simpsons episode "The Seemingly Neverending Story".
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • All of the African-American citizens of Quahog coming out of hiding, dancing and singing "Brand New Day," after discovering that the town is rid of all of its police. It's funny because it's true.
    • Brian vomiting from too many drinks after kissing Meg, then asking her if she's going to eat the vomit (since he's a dog).
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In “Follow the Money”, Connie later can be seen stripping for money, which makes the scene of Brian calling her out a little more hurtful. Mainly because Brian was right.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Without the police around, Peter points out that people are doing whatever they want, followed by a scene of Quagmire having sex with a giraffe. A later episode would have Quagmire sire a child with a giraffe (possibly even the same one from this episode) after the government is disbanded and, like in this episode, everyone decides to do whatever they want.
  • Squick: Meg says the pie she baked for Brian has her hair inside. Worse, it's implied that the hair may not have come from her head.
