• Crosses the Line Twice: There is nothing inherently funny in killing a date because you find them annoying and want to leave as soon as possible. However, when the annoyed party is Death and he casually uses his Death Touch instead of simply saying it's not working out, it becomes Black Comedy gold. Especially since his Check, Please! is the last words spoken in the episode.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Peter remarks that Lois would hit him over the head with a frying pan if she found out he was golfing instead of spending their anniversary together. A later episode would have Lois hit Peter with a frying pan for real...just because he wouldn't stop tickling her (something that Peter himself lampshades), showing how bad their marriage had gotten by that point.
