- Designated Villain: Lois in this episode. The episode treats her like she is the main antagonist of the episode just because she hated and objected to the numerous changes Peter was making to The King And I and causing it to deviate completely from the source material.
- Genius Bonus: One of the monkeys turns down a suggestion for Shakespearean poetry because "they did that on last week's Marlowe." This references the theory that Christopher Marlowe ghostwrote Shakespeare's work.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- The idea of lowbrow theatricals, excluding satyr plays of ancient Greece, became less odd with the production of Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon, both of which have raunchiness not common in Broadway theatre.
- Brian becomes such a braggart about getting the lead role that Quagmire snaps at him. This was long before they became Sitcom Arch-Nemesis.
