YMMV / Fallen Angels (2019)

Go To

  • Awesome Moments: In issue 5, X-23 is training Bling!, Husk, and Cable for the looming fight with Apoth. She pops a foot claw, draws a Line in the Sand, and challenges them to try to land a hit on her. She takes them all on at once. They don't.
  • Best Known for the Fanservice: It's already getting this. The comic promises to expand on Kwannon's backstory, will deliver a tale of revenge, be Darker and Edgier than the other Marvel comics, and have a high-stakes story that could jeopardize all of mutantkind. To many, the most notable feature of the comic is that Kwannon is Psylocke II and that she wears the iconic thongkini associated with the name.
  • Crack Pairing: Some readers seeing X-23 and Kid Cable together on a book has already sparked shipping for this pairing, and for many of the same reasons she was shipped with Teen Cyclops.
  • Just Here for Godzilla:
    • Some fans are interested in Fallen Angels just to see sexy Asian ninja Psylocke again, even if the Psylocke in question isn't Betsy Braddock.
    • Others are interested in what Bryan Hill has planned to develop Kwannon, seeing as her Flat Character and Mysterious Past essentially makes her a blank slate when making her the new Psylocke.
    • On the other hand, some are just interested in seeing more X-23 after her solo series ended.
  • Tainted by the Preview: While not universal, there is a small (but vocal) camp who have grievance with Kwannon as Psylocke, who they feel is only being forced into the role to be a Replacement Goldfish to satisfy those who want a sexy version of her. On that note, some don't like that she's wearing the iconic ninja bathing suit with the thong intact, as opposed to Betsy's later costumes which made her more modest, viewing it as an outdated and sexist throwback to an era where this was the norm.
  • Unexpected Character: Or rather, "Unexpected Title". The original Fallen Angels was an eight-issue mini-series focusing on a more rebellious Sunspot and the New Mutants' attempts to bring him back into their fold and the name was never used after that mini-series. So, to see it being used here is a surprise.
