YMMV / F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers

• Funny Moments: Thyme seems to giggle giddily after his first Accidental Kiss with Gorya, even though he tries to act displeased about it. Also doubles as a Heartwarming Moment, at least until he runs away, which is simply funny.
• Hollywood Homely: Thyme says that Gorya has "average" looks, so he doesn't know why he fell for her. As usual for Boys over Flowers remakes, the lead actress isn't actually plain-looking. Tu Tontawan (Gorya) is a very beautiful girl.
• Ho Yay: Due to Bright (Thyme) and Win Metawin (Kavin) playing lovers in 2gether: The Series, possibly the most successful "BL" (Boys' Love) Asian media in recent memory, some people ship Thyme and Kavin together.
• Ship-to-Ship Combat:
  • As to be expected of any adaptation of Boys over Flowers, Gorya x Thyme shippers vs. Gorya x Ren shippers clash with each other.
  • More unusually, sometimes Gorya x Thyme shippers clash with Thyme x Kavin shippers, thanks to BrightWin already having shippers from their 2Gether days.
  • Gorya x Ren vs. Ren x Mira shippers also clash.
• Tough Act to Follow: Boys over Flowers has had tons of adaptations, so people weren't super optimistic about yet another one. Some worried that key roles like Thyme, the leader, were miscast. However, F4 Thailand is winning the crowd and boasts positive reviews. It helps that Tu Tontawan (Gorya) has excellent romantic chemistry with Bright Vachirawit (Thyme) and Dew Jirawat (Ren). Many viewers also appreciate how faithful the Thai adaptation is to the source material, compared to other live-action adaptations — except Thyme isn't nearly as much of a Fetishized Abuser as his original counterpart, who attempts to rape Gorya's no fewer than four times.
