  • Americans Hate Tingle: Their later albums suffered from diminishing critical and commercial returns in America, but they were still huge in Europe.
  • Awesome Music: Their most successful albums, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), Touch and Be Yourself Tonight.
  • Chorus-Only Song: The Title Track of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The video for "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" includes stock footage of a Saturn V rocket in flight, along with film from aboard an Apollo mission. Annie Lennox later contributed the One-Woman Wail on the soundtrack for Apollo 13.
  • LGBT Fanbase: With her androgynous look and soulful singing voice, Annie Lennox quickly became a gay icon.
  • Memetic Mutation: In the late 2010s, some youtubers noticed that "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of this)" sounds rather similar to the memetic music from popular educational game Kahoot, and remixes of the song with Kahoot music became popular, sometimes with other additions.
  • Seasonal Rot: After Revenge, it was clear that they had run out of ideas (though the follow-up Savage is starting to become Vindicated by History).
  • Signature Song: The Title Track of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) to In The Garden.
  • Tear Jerker: A surprising number of their songs count as this. Special mentions must go to Angel, Miracle Of Love, and Julia. Who's That Girl? stands out as well: despite the protagonist seeming like a borderline Yandere, the lyrics are so sad and Annie's voice so haunting, it's still pretty tear-inducing.
