YMMV / Epic Rap Battles Of History Donald Trump Vs Hillary Clinton

Go To

  • Broken Base: Lincoln explicitly telling Hillary to 'beat this dummy' and slapping Trump twice (rather than slapping both candidates as in Obama vs Romney) have caused a lot of controversy, as it blatantly showed Lincoln favoring Clinton over Trump. The counterargument is that Lincoln's bias was meant to be a warning about Trump, and wasn't necessarily an endorsement of Clinton. The point about slapping Trump twice also has a more specific second counterargument, in that some people think Lincoln Wouldn't Hit a Girl, though this isn't supported by Word of God.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Trump goes full-on Politically Incorrect Villain, boasting of how he plans to keep latino immigrants out of America and make Mexico pay for everything; most of these lines are in fact based on actual statements from the man himself, but even then it can come across as so over-the-top dickish as to cross into hilarity. Then ERB has him finish his verse by attempting to call Barack Obama the N-word.
  • Franchise Original Sin: This battle had people accusing ERB of a "recent" liberal bias, but Obama vs Romney shows the same bias. It's just that Obama vs Romney was mostly Played for Laughs anyway, so it wasn't really a big deal. Going back even further, there was a Running Gag of taking jabs at John McCain in the first season.
  • Misaimed Fandom: Peter has cited the reactions to this battle as one of the reasons why they took a hiatus after Season 5, as they didn't expect people to think Trump deserved respect from Lincoln.
