YMMV / Endling - Extinction is Forever

• Anvilicious: There is nearly not a single interaction between humans and animals in this game that is positive in any way. Humans only ever harm, destroy, or trouble the foxes, and all human-made objects are drawn as bleakly as possible. The game does everything in its power to club the player over the head with Humans Are the Real Monsters. The only sympathetic humans are a wandering musician who will give food to the foxes and young girl named Molly, who will do the same... But she's found dead should you manage to find the kidnapped cub.
• Tear Jerker:
  • The ending. Even if you managed to keep all the cubs alive and saved the badger family as well, the mother fox is shot and killed just as she and her cubs finally reach safety.
  • Molly dies as well, with her caretaker found grieving over her body.
• The Woobie: The mother fox never catches a break. Not only is she the last fox on Earth, which is in a severe state of environmental collapse, her previous home in the forest is destroyed by a fire, forcing her to hide and give birth to her cubs near a human settlement. When one of said cubs is kidnapped by a human, she stops at nothing to retrieve it, all while making sure that the rest of her offspring would survive against predators and hunters. Then, after finally reuniting with her lost cub and nearly drowning during the flood, she’s fatally shot by a hunter, with the only silver lining being her offspring managing to reach a safe natural reserve.
