  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Clark and Lois's developing relationship from the moment Clark explicitly chooses Lois over Lana, with Martha musing that even she can see that Clark and Lois would never treat someone the way they treat each other if they weren't falling in love.
    • Clark's proposal to Lois might have been a partial accident (he was just planning to propose later and Lois walked in on him while he was practising), but when she asks why he's doing this, he responds that he's doing this because he's sure of how he feels about Lois, describing the way he feels about Lois as follows;
    Clark: "Like I want to tell you everything, because no matter how great or how awful something is, you always make it better. You never give an inch and you challenge me to do the same. I find strength and hope in you, and you're the mother of my son. What I have with you is more than I've ever had before. [..] But it isn't enough for me. I want more. I want you to be the mother of all my children, because I can't imagine ever wanting to be with anyone else." [Clark holds up the ring] "I want to be the love of your life because you're the love of mine. Will you marry me?"
    Lois [smiles happy tears, reflecting that Clark's been giving her moments beyond anything she could have imagined since he first asked if the baby made them family] "Yes, I'll marry you."
    • When Clark tells Lois about his vision, Lois is initially concerned that Clark is just doing all this to recreate his vision, but Clark assures her that he only wants to create a new future rather than relive an old past, explaining that everything they've experienced since they started their relationship in reality is as new to him as it is to Lois.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The night before Lana’s wedding to Lex, not only does Clark have a nightmare about him killing Lex and driving Lana to kill herself, but he then dreams about seeing Lois dead because the baby literally tore her apart from inside, Clark picking up his under-developed child only to see it die because the baby wasn't ready to survive without Lois.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Lois and Clark’s fears for the baby during Lois’s early pregnancy, with both blaming themselves for its fragile state (Lois due to the drug she took that night and Clark because of his alien physiology).
    • Jor-El agrees to let Clark still have a life on Earth while training because the A.I.’s last memories from its template are the pain Jor-El felt at having to send his son away, prompting Jor-El to state “Fathers should not be separated from their sons”.
    • Clark’s efforts to ‘cope’ with the knowledge that his son never existed.
