YMMV / Emily Dickinson

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Because I Could Not Stop For Death..., one of her most famous poems, is written in Ballad Meter, aka Common Meter (8,6,8,6). So is the theme song to Gilligan's Island, and thus it can be sung to the same tune.
    • This works with pretty much all of her poetry, which was metrically based on hymns. You can also use "The Yellow Rose of Texas" or "Amazing Grace" and get the same effect.
  • Vindicated by History: Her work had a poor reception in her lifetime. Today, she is a staple of literary classes.
