  • Broken Base: Critics and viewers alike debated whether the series was a worthy successor to Dark (2017), or whether it ended up being a bloated and overly bleak vanity project. Its cancellation ultimately made this a somewhat moot point, but even then, the show's fans argued that it had been Screwed by the Network and hadn't been given a chance to develop properly.
  • Genius Bonus: Period drama lovers and historical costume experts could find the Limited Wardrobe of the characters quite perplexing. While it's justified for crew members, lower-deck passengers and the priest, the rich, first class ladies sporting a single trademark outfit throughout the entire, several-day journey looks strange, in a time period when it was social norm to change outfits between morning and evening, and with transatlantic voyages being the perfect occasion for the elite to show off their wardrobe with different outfits each day. It's an early sign that something's not quite right with the "reality" of the ship.
  • Older Than They Think: While the diverse cast onboard the Kerebos can easily be seen as Politically Correct History, even a cursory examination of the historical record shows otherwise. For instance, examining the passenger list of the Titanic not only shows a broad array of European nationalities, but also includes passengers originating from places such as Argentina, China, Cuba, Egypt, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Peru, Syria, Turkey, and Uruguay.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Some fans of the series were annoyed at The Reveal that it was all a simulation in the future. It means that all of the things we'd learned about the characters up until that point were essentially meaningless.
