  • Malaysians Love David Bradford: For reasons unknown to man, this show became popular with Malaysian office working females back in the early 80s. Many of them found David Bradford to be a heartthrob.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Jeremy. He may be a rebellious, sassy teenager, but it's hard not to feel bad for him when his father merely abandons him, to live with the Bradfords- who thankfully help him get back on his feet.
  • Retroactive Recognition: The pilot's David is a young Mark Hamill, months before the film and franchise that would launch him into stardom.
  • Tear Jerker: The two-part Christmas Episode, one of the first to air after Diana Hyland's untimely death. In it, the Bradfords' Christmas presents are stolen, except for one that Joan (Hyland's character) had bought for Tommy, and hidden away, shortly before the character's own passing. It's a book by Joan's favorite poet, E. E. Cummings, that she left a heartfelt inscription in. When Tom reads the note to the rest of the family, their tearful reactions probably aren't acting.
