• Anticlimax Boss: Though Ruth is the final boss of the game, she only has one attack (a high whip strike that can easily be dodged) while her other minions have at least two.
• Game-Breaker: The Ice Ball freezes the first enemy it touches for a few seconds. It even works against bosses, allowing a skilled player to stun-lock them and rack up lots of damage without taking many hits in return.
• Serial Numbers Filed Off: A lot of the game's critics, in particular The Mysterious Mr. Enter have pointed out that 8 Eyes is basically a clone of the first CastleVania; right down to many of the enemies being palette swaps from the series. Not to mention forcing in similar mechanics to Mega Man that make very little sense.
• That One Level: Germany, The Maze. Reaching the door to the boss calls for dropping down into a pit that wraps around to the top of the screen.
