YMMV / Eegah!

Go To

  • Jerkass Woobie: Eegah. He's not really evil, it's just that after thousands of years in isolation he has no idea how to deal with other people.
  • Memetic Mutation: "Watch out for snakes!"
  • Narm: The whole movie could qualify, but Roxy's emphatic "Wheeeeeeee!" in the dune buggy scene takes the cake.
  • Nightmare Retardant: The blood and... flowers during the opening credits.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Yep, that's really Richard Kiel pre-Jaws playing the titular Eegah.
  • Serial Numbers Filed Off: The Giant of Thunder Mountain, another movie starring Richard Kiel, has many similarities to this one, with Kiel as a reclusive giant at the top of the hill who is misunderstood by civilization. According to some rumors, this was Kiel's attempt at a family-friendly version of Eegah.
  • Special Effects Failure: Eegah's beard is obviously fake.
  • Squick:
    • The scene where a randy Eegah is pawing at Roxy and her father urges her to "Give him something else!" Also, the scenes where Roxy shaves her father and adjusts his tie. The MST3K cast thought that Roxy and her father were "offscreen lovers."
    • There's also the scene where Eegah puts on shaving cream, then lolls his tongue around and laps up the cream. The cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000 stated in The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Amazing Colossal Episode Guide that they consider the scene one of the most disgusting things they have seen.
    • There's also the whole fact that Arch Hall Sr. cast his son as the boyfriend of his own character's daughter. The man must have been really desperate to get some nepotism in this thing.
  • The Scrappy: Tom (Hall Jr.) gets a lot of screentime doing pretty much nothing while Roxy and her father are kidnapped, usually screaming "Roxy! Roxy!" When he doesn't, they yell for him, and groan whenever he appears afterwards. His lyrical ineptitude and horrible hair certainly don't help.
