• Unintentional Period Piece: The movie was made when Hong Kong was under British colonial rule and China was supporting the Cambodian opposition against the Vietnamese-backed government there, and both then had amiable relations with the United States. Now that Hong Kong is part of the People's Republic of China and with China and America's recent strained relations, a plot that depicts the US in a relatively positive light would have no chance of being made today.
