- Anticlimax Boss: Averted in the G59 Map Pack, featuring actual bosses with unique attacks and health bars at the top of the screen, instead of just enemies that happen to be rare like in the base game. The first level boss is a blimp-sized Gasbag that covers the entire boss arena with fire and death. It's exactly as awesome as it sounds.
- Moment of Awesome: Bitter Bridge. Early on you collect your first Frost Armor, a powerful protective item placed suspiciously in front of a big frozen throne. Suddenly, the rock music kicks in... And a massive wall of Mantas appear from behind the throne. Fire up the hellgun, because you're going to destroy them all.
- That One Level: The Gauntlet Of Pain has a ridiculously long War Sequence. And it doesn't help that a certain glitch can cause the game to load the level before the Gauntlet Of Pain if you didn't beat it all the way through in your last sitting.
