  • Master of Disguise: The EFX Master/headliner.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Later in Cassidy's tenure as star, preshow act One Spirit featured Ne-Yo among its members.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: "EFX (Bring on the Dream)", Tommy Tune's opening number, sounds incredibly similar to Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle".
  • Take That, Audience!: Happens during Michael Crawford's Barnum act.
P.T. Barnum: "You speak ENGLISH? I should’ve known! They usually do on the more primitive planets."
  • Tear Jerker: Houdini’s duet with Bess, primarily because he’s a spirit brought back from the dead and also that it could be the last time that they see each other.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Inverted. The changes brought in David Cassidy's takeover as headliner were largely seen by audiences and critics as an improvement over the original version of the show, giving it a clearer storyline and an improved sense of humor, winning it "Best Production Show" by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
  • What Could Have Been: Following Michael Crawford's departure from the show, stars MGM were looking to hire before settling on David Cassidy included Donny Osmond, Barry Manilow, John Stamos and Rick Springfield, who was eventually featured as headliner in 2001.
