• Awesome Music: In a movie focused around marching bands, there's bound to be a lot of this. The ending competition is full of it.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Devon's line "I don't have a whole bunch of kids runnin' around" is impossible to take seriously anymore, given that, since the start of The New '20s, Nick Cannon has fathered seven children and counting (and he already had three by that point, for a total of ten).
• Ho Yay: Devon and Sean, fullstop. And there's the moment with Jayson and Devon, too...
• Moral Event Horizon: Mr. Wade asking Devon for knowledge about Atlanta A&T's routines.
• Special Effect Failure: The printer that produces the sheet music is an ink-jet printer, but the sound of a dot-matrix printer is heard.
