- Funny Moments: The sheer fact the Wolf, a terrifying Knight of Cerebus in his home movie, is playable in this game. Nothing diminishes his terror like seeing the personification of Death itself casually bantering with and even losing against goofy, comical characters like Donkey, King Julien, or the Boss Baby.
- Just Here for Godzilla:
- Some players picked up the game just to see Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona again.
- Some became interested in the game when Megamind, whose movie had gone dormant since 2010 but had become a Cult Classic in the years since, was confirmed to appear.
- Others got into the game to play as the Wolf, AKA Death, an infamous but much beloved scene-stealer in his original movie despite his short amount of screentime.
- Moment of Awesome:
- Joining the game in the Rally Pack are two already-badass characters from their respective films: Master Oogway and The Wolf! Note that The Wolf isn't here to claim Puss' last life or anyone else's this time around, because, in his own words:
- Speaking of characters, this marks the long-awaited return of Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona! And who's the fourth representative? LORD FARQUAAD!
- Popular with Furries: With a selection of anthropomorphic animal characters from Dreamwork's roster as well as fantastic ones, furry fans will likely find a favorite to be their racer.
- Spiritual Successor: This game can be read as a follow-up to Madagascar Kartz and DreamWorks Super Star Kartz, in that it's the third Mascot Racer to feature multiple DreamWorks Animation properties.
- Unexpected Character:
- It wasn't likely to see Lord Farquaad in any DreamWorks-related media nowadays, because he straight-up died at the end of the film, and future media depicted him as a ghost and a zombie, which were both respectively blown to smithereens by Dragon and revealed to be All Just a Dream. Even Master Oogway could have a logical explanation for his presence in the game.
- Bridget and King Gristle came in as a shock as well. Since the Trolls were only represented as hosts for every race, not many thought that any other representative for the franchise would make it in as a racer, especially two characters who aren't all that popular with the fans.
- The Rally Edition-exclusive characters. While Master Oogway wasn't that much of a surprise, the real shocker comes from The Wolf, who is literally DEATH HIMSELF, and, in a similar vein to Shredder in Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2), the most intimidating antagonist DreamWorks has ever made, and yet, he's still part of a light-hearted Mascot Racer alongside his main target Puss In Boots (though it could be justified, as he spared his life after he learned to value it at the end of the film).
- Diane Foxington, in her Crimson Paw outfit no less, was a somewhat surprising choice for the second Bad Guys participant as well given her very spoiler-oriented character.
- Megamind was a pleasant surprise, given that his franchise had gone dormant after the first movie and hadn't seen much in the way of new material for years afterwards (although a TV series and another movie would be announced much later on).
