YMMV / Dragon Quest Treasures

Go To

  • Continuity Lockout: Part of the fun of Treasures is seeing all the Dragon Quest series references... but that demands being familiar with the rest of the series in the first place, which isn't even easy for fans since so much of it has had No Export for You problems. Compounding the problem is that this game lumps all the source games outside the main series together as just "spin-offs"; this was likely done to hide just how many of them never left Japan but it's rendered several of the treasures impossible to identify.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: The rival gangs are truly a pain in both fronts. When out and about, depending on how much treasure the player has, rival gangs will attack them and try to steal it, and there isn’t much reward for stopping them. They can also try to steal treasure when the player returns to the base, leading to a fight- which can be hard depending on what gang it is, as there can be three waves. Worst of all, though, is that there is no way to permanently stop the attacks.
  • That One Sidequest: Finding and defeating the post-game bonus bosses is entirely up to chance (as detailed under Random Number God on the main page), making it a huge pain to complete. It's even worse if you're trying to complete all the Flag Quests, which more or less requires this sidequest to be fulfilled first.
