• Awesome Art: The animated shot of Yajirobe and Korin on their wedding day looks positively seamless.
• Common Knowledge: Broly getting triggered by the name "Kakarot" caught on with audiences, who joked about how Dragon Ball Super: Broly ending with Goku telling Broly his Saiyan name might be a bad idea. In the original anime, Broly is triggered by either the sight of Goku or the sound of crying. He just happens to say "Kakarot" when he's angry.
• Diagnosed by the Audience: Some viewers believe Abridged!Broly is on the Autism Spectrum due to his sensitivity to noise (getting triggered by Goku's crying when they were babies), his obsession with a particular subject (power levels), a tendency to repeat certain words or phrases (his gradual devolution to saying only "Kakarot"), and poor social skills.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Goku reassuring Gohan that it's his movie next (in reference to Bojack Unbound) unfortunately gets undermined by the cancellation of the series right before then.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • In this movie, Broly is meek, passive, and has an Ax-Crazy Superpowered Evil Side when pissed, and Goku even strikes an Odd Friendship with him.. Dragon Ball Super: Broly reintroduces Broly as a meek and passive Saiyan with an Ax-Crazy Superpowered Evil Side when pissed, and Goku even strikes an Odd Friendship with him. The difference is that in this version, it happens before the major fight in this movie while it takes place after in Broly.
  • This movie also has a plotline where Paragus blames his and Broly's misery on King Vegeta, and decides to go for Revenge by Proxy on Vegeta. Super: Broly uses the exact same plotline with Freeza being an extra villain in the movie.
  • Vegeta's retort after Piccolo confronts him about getting shell-shocked by Broly that Piccolo doesn't have a "Legendary Super Namekian" transformation can come off as this considering that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero would have Piccolo debut a transformation similar to the Super Saiyan transformation that makes him more buffed and orange (simply called "Orange Piccolo"), meaning that now Piccolo does indeed have a "Super Namekian" transformation.
• Magnificent Bastard: Paragus, after being stabbed and Left for Dead along with his son Broly by King Vegeta out of fear for the latter's power, desires revenge through the King's son. To do this, he recruits the Shamosians to build an infrastructure on a planet on a collision course with a comet before arriving on Earth and offering Prince Vegeta a planet to rule over, purposely taking advantage of his egotistical personality. When his plans are inevitably exposed, Paragus does not descend into a Villainous Breakdown but rather confesses his plans and backstory to the Z-Fighters. Even though he did not intend to trigger Broly's transformation — due to previously having wiped out the South Galaxy before — Paragus nevertheless showed pride in his son while letting him kill the Z-Fighters for him. Lacking the worst traits of his original counterpart, Paragus attempts to eliminate Vegeta not through brute strength but by knowledge and manipulations of the arrogant Prince.
