YMMV / Dr. Terror's House of Horrors

Go To

  • Magnificent Bastard:
    • "Werewolf": Deirdre Biddulph is secretly the 200-year-old wife of the late Cosmo Valdemar, and arranges for the latest of the Dawson bloodline to be placed in his coffin in order to resurrect him. Twisting the legend foretelling the event and fooling the neighboring residence, she has architect Jim Dawson come over to her house under the pretense that it needs renovating, expecting him to come across the coffin and unleashing Valdemar, now a werewolf. When Jim decides to create silver bullets to kill the creature, Deridre secretly switches them out with regular bullets, ensuring that the werewolf would be unharmed, and uses Jim's confusion to trap and kill him herself.
    • "Vampire": Dr. Blake is a vampire masquerading as a friendly doctor, seeking to get rid of another child-hunting vampire for his own ends. Using his knowledge, he's able to outwit the vampire at every turn, from quickly forming a cross with his hands to waiting for her to arrive and shooting at her with a gun. Eventually discovering that she's his colleague Dr. Bob Carroll's wife, Nicolle, he instructs him on how to kill her, succeeding in doing so by the time the police arrive to investigate. When asked by Bob to bail him out, Blake denies any involvement in it, getting Bob arrested for murder while he turns into a bat and leaves, satisfied with his work.
  • Narm Charm: The terrible special effects (rubber bats on wings, the crawling prosthetic hand) are somewhat endearing. Not unlike a lot of Hammer Horror films.
  • Retroactive Recognition: A nurse is played by Judy Cornwell, who would later be best known for playing Daisy in Keeping Up Appearances.
