YMMV / Dr. Dre

Go To

  • Awesome Music: "The Next Episode" of course.
    • Actually, this applies to 2001 as a whole. Ditto to The Chronic and Compton.
  • Complete Monster (N.W.A's "One Less Bitch"): Dr. Dre's character is a ruthless pimp who only cares about money. Upon noticing the attractive prostitute Clara, Dre's character decides to pimp her to gain money. However, after accusing her of stealing from him, Dre's character ties her up to a bed and has her gang-raped by his friends before killing her. Later having a sexual relationship with Vicky, he decides to use her as well as a prostitute to gain money, but kills her when he finds out her husband is the District Attorney.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The song "Keep Their Heads Ringing" will definitely hit different ever since Dre was hospitalized due to a brain aneurysm.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The "Detox isn't dropping" meme ended up being prophetic, since as noted below, Dre eventually scrapped the album and released Compton instead.
  • Memetic Mutation: His song "The Next Episode" for Nate Dogg's closing line, "Smoke Weed Everyday." A heavy dose of Beam Me Up, Scotty! has resulted in a lot of Director Displacement, as both the song and the line are associated with featured artist Snoop Dogg.
  • Signature Song: "Nuthin' But A G Thang" or "Still D.R.E."
