YMMV / Double Dragon IV

Go To

  • Critical Backlash: Reviewers such as Top Hat Gaming, and DD fans feel the negativity from most professional critics was overblown. While the critics have some points, what most found is a fun or decent brawler that celebrates the NES Trilogy. On top of adding new bonus modes, unlockable characters after going through and beating the game, and unlocking more characters the further you get in to Tower Mode.
  • Porting Disaster: The PS4 version has been criticized for having a large amount of screen tearing.
  • Sequelitis: Of a different sort than some of the earlier entries. Besides feeling as if it doesn't seem to contribute much in terms of new content, it has screen tearing issues (even on the PS4 version, of all things), came out years after Neon (an American-developed game) revived the franchise, and has a ridiculous plot even by the standards of the series. This is especially relevant here, considering this game was developed by their original creators, no less.
  • So Okay, It's Average: For those on the less negative and fair side. DDIV does some new things: such as unlockable characters and new moves. Yet the rest has been done already, but executed well for the most part. Coming out after Neon did not help. The cheap price point is considered the go to saving grace as well.
