• Heartwarming Moments: Until the end, much of the story is rather adorable, chronicling the narrator's happy life with his parents and sister.
• Tear Jerker: The murderer kills the narrator's parents and kidnaps his sister, and he can't do anything about it. It's is somehow even more poignant when you learn the twist at the end: because the narrator is a dog, he can't communicate with words or open doors.
• The Woobie: The protagonist at the end. His parents were murdered, his sister was kidnapped, and he can only remain inside the house with his dead parents, being unable to chase after her because he's a dog who can't open doors.
