• Awesome Music: The song that plays at the beginning of the movie and at the end.
• Cult Classic: It’s not a very well-known film, but it certainly has its fans.
• Friendly Fandoms: Fans of Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin tend to enjoy this film, due to it sharing some similarities with the series.
• Moral Event Horizon: If Killer didn’t cross it when he killed Rock’s mother, then he definitely crossed it when, after ending up in the zoo, he sent Akamimi to murder innocent zoo animals just because he wanted to kill his prey instead of being fed.
• Nightmare Fuel: The scene where Killer creeps slowly towards Rock’s mother and the scene where Akamimi ambushes and kills a bird. Both scenes are made more effective by the lack of dialogue, which makes them rather unsettling.
• Tearjerker: Rock’s reaction to his mother’s death (as well as her death itself) is quite depressing, especially for young children and/or dog lovers.
