YMMV / Doctor Who: The Edge of Time

Go To

  • Annoying Video Game Helper: Emer takes over from the Doctor, and, for the most part, avoids this trope since her advice only really comes if the player takes too long in accomplishing a task. However, the fact she is sometimes telling the player what to do can be annoying, and she ends up telling the player what direction to go in in Reality, though she will actually tell you to take the only option you have.
  • Best Level Ever: The Victorian London level is considered the best in the entire game for being genuinely scary and the game mechanics for the Angels being enjoyable, and to a lesser extent the section of the Dalek level is also this simply for giving players a break from the puzzles in the rest of the game.
  • Porting Disaster: Downplayed but given that the game was meant for VR, some reviews have noted that Reality suffers from the limitations that causes in regards to level design.
  • So OK, It's Average: It's a decent Doctor Who adventure with great dialogue from Jodie Whittaker, and David Tennant in Reality, but doesn't add anything special to the genre.
  • Underused Game Mechanic: The ability to throw objects to distract enemies only comes into use during the Dalek level, and once the player gets into a Dalek casing this ability disappears.
