YMMV / Doctor Who S39 E3: "Flux Chapter Three: Once, Upon Time"

Go To

  • Abandon Shipping: Thirteen's poor treatment of Yaz in this episode has made many Thasmin supporters think twice about this ship, although some still support it as an angsty, conflicted romance.
  • Obvious Judas: The Grand Serpent shows himself to be self-centred, tells Vinder to obey him without question, and then arranges the murder of his political opponent's family members after ordering Vinder to turn off the camera. When Vinder tries to blow the whistle on him, his boss doesn't believe him and points out that the Grand Serpent will just relocate him as punishment.
  • Shocking Moments: The return of the Fugitive Doctor was kept completely absent from marketing and caught a great many viewers completely off-guard.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • The Daleks in the opening scene are clearly CGI and don't blend in with the environment well at all. The models are reused from "Revolution Of The Daleks" where they were suited to night time lighting.
    • The Doctor in the Time Storm is a very unconvincing bit of greenscreen, which isn't helped by how much time she spends in the episode floating about in it.
