YMMV / Doctor Who S32 E9 "Night Terrors"

  • Angst? What Angst?: Amy and Rory don't mention at all the fact that their baby is still missing, or that she will grow up to be a brainwashed psychopathic murderer. This one is due to out-of-universe reasons. Before filming started on this series, this episode was originally intended to be the fourth episode, hence this trope (unintentionally) coming into play, and which would have made the Doctor's "in the flesh" line some lovely Foreshadowing. It was switched with "The Curse Of The Black Spot" for being too scary.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: A French parody of Doctor Who already had the Doctor dealing badly with a Rubik's Cube.
  • Jerkass Woobie: The landlord may have been a complete ass towards his tenants, but nobody deserves that.
  • Like You Would Really Do It: Admit it, you were relieved when Amy turned into a doll. It had nothing to do with how you feel about Amy. It's just that once Amy turned into a doll, you knew she and all the other dolls would turn back to normal by episode's end and this would be an episode where Everybody Lives. However, you wouldn't be sure how many others would turn into dolls before that would happen if you never saw the episode before. So there is some fright factor left in that.
  • Memetic Mutation: Ten Cats!
  • Paranoia Fuel: So... how many other parents are unknowingly raising Reality Warper children? And that's just counting the ones potentially on Earth! YOU could be one of them, and you wouldn't know it.
  • Shocking Moments: The doll's were already established to be pretty scary looking, but no one expected them to be able to turn people into them! But Doctor Who has done that kind of story before.
