YMMV / Doctor Who S1 E7 "The Sensorites"

• Aluminium Christmas Trees: Non-scientific viewers might hear the reference to the discovery of the valuable mineral "molybdenum" and assume it's a made up Unobtanium, but molybdenum is in fact an actual element that really is often used in steel alloys.
• Memetic Mutation: "The one with the feh-white hair."
• Special Effects Failure: The Sensorites have visible zips down their backs.
• Signature Scene: Susan's description of her then-unnamed home planet, which set the template for how Gallifrey would be depicted in subsequent stories.
• Ugly Cute: The Sensorites, being a subversion of Beauty Equals Goodness and a rather sweet and feeble species prone to Sensory Overload.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: There's the major technical triumph of showing the TARDIS crew going through the TARDIS control room, leaving the doors and stepping out onto the spaceship they've landed on in one continuous, seamless movement. There is a cut to facilitate this, but it's very subtle and the mind refuses to register it. Nowadays, an effect like this would be trivial, but the series spent decades trying deliberately not to show this movement under the grounds that it would be unconvincing, despite it being executed seamlessly almost right at the very beginning.
