The film

  • Awesome Music - Vladimir Cosma's "Sentimental Walk" sets the mood for Jules's and Cynthia's all-night wander around Paris. Also, Cynthia's performance of the aria "Ebben? Ne andrĂ² lontana" from Catalani's opera La Wally.
  • Funny Moments - During the extended Train Escape sequence, Zatopek grabs onto the back of the Metro train Jules has just boarded on his moped. He hammers onto the window to attract a passenger's attention and signals him to open the door. The passenger, an old man, looks completely uninterested, so Zatopek digs out his police badge and holds it up for the man to see. The unimpressed old man responds by digging out his military veteran card and showing it to Zatopek.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Originally, the movie did not do well in France with either critics or audiences. In the United States, however, it was a hit on the art-house circuit, and critics were also very impressed (Siskel & Ebert both put it on their top 10 lists for 1982, when it was released in the U.S.).
